Running for a Cause: The Story Behind the St. Patrick’s Revenge 5K

Every March, as Wilmington prepares to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, something special happens at one of the city’s most historic landmarks. Runners lace up their shoes, friends gather wearing their brightest green, and the community comes together for an event that blends celebration, connection, and purpose.

The St. Patrick’s Revenge 5K, hosted by the Trauma Survivors Foundation (TSF), has become much more than a race—it’s a community tradition that brings people together to support first responders, healthcare professionals, and trauma survivors.

Held at the legendary Kelly’s Logan House, the race captures the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day while highlighting the mission of TSF: to provide critical mental health support, crisis response services, and educational programs for those who dedicate their lives to helping others.

A Race Built on Community

The St. Patrick’s Revenge 5K is special because it reflects the heart of Wilmington—community partnerships, generosity, and a shared commitment to helping others.

This year’s race continues its valued partnerships with several local organizations and businesses that help make the event possible.

  • Kelly’s Logan House – Wilmington’s iconic Irish pub and the longtime home base for the race and post-run celebration.

  • Dynamite Detailing – A generous sponsor that supports TSF’s mission and helps make the event accessible to the community.

  • Wawa – A beloved regional staple helping fuel runners and volunteers during race day.

  • Seasons Pizza – A key partner supporting TSF through their month-long fundraiser “Margherita for a Mission.”

These partnerships reflect the powerful impact that local businesses can have when they come together to support a meaningful cause.

Margherita for a Mission

Throughout the month, Seasons Pizza is supporting the Trauma Survivors Foundation through their “Margherita for a Mission” campaign.

For every Margherita Pizza sold, Seasons Pizza donates a portion to the foundation, helping expand services for those impacted by trauma.

It’s a simple but powerful way for the community to support TSF—by sharing a meal with friends and family while contributing to a cause that helps first responders, healthcare workers, and trauma survivors receive the support they deserve.

Why This Race Matters

For the Trauma Survivors Foundation, events like the St. Patrick’s Revenge 5K help fund critical programs including:

  • Crisis response services following traumatic events

  • Mental health support for first responders and healthcare workers

  • Education and training programs focused on trauma resilience

  • Community outreach and wellness initiatives

More importantly, the race provides an opportunity for the community to come together and demonstrate that no one facing trauma has to face it alone.

A Message from TSF Leadership

Dennis Carradin, Jr., CEO of the Trauma Survivors Foundation, says the race represents the heart of the organization’s mission.

“The St. Patrick’s Revenge 5K represents everything the Trauma Survivors Foundation stands for—community, compassion, and connection. Seeing hundreds of people come together to support first responders, healthcare professionals, and trauma survivors reminds us that when a community rallies together, real healing can happen.”

For Jennifer Baiada, TSF Manager, the event is equally meaningful because of the people behind it.

“This race is incredibly special to all of us at TSF. It’s not just about running—it’s about bringing people together who believe in supporting those who experience trauma in their lives and careers. Every runner, volunteer, and sponsor plays a role in helping us continue our mission.”

A Celebration of Resilience

While the race is filled with laughter, green shirts, and St. Patrick’s Day spirit, the purpose behind it remains powerful.

The St. Patrick’s Revenge 5K is a celebration of resilience—honoring the strength of those who serve, the survivors who rebuild their lives, and the communities that stand beside them.

As runners cross the finish line at Kelly’s Logan House, they are not just completing a race. They are helping support a mission dedicated to healing, connection, and hope.
